Predicting what's next

"Principle number one is to refine rules and processes before adding people. Using people to leverage a refined process multiplies production; using people as a solution to a poor process multiplies problems."

We empower individual decision making by having employees have access to all available information, and not having them ask for permission. This saves time and reduces the back and forth between permission-asking and actually doing the task. We train our clients to refine task descriptions to achieve better efficiency. We try to be as clear as possible on how we're going to do a specific task.

On prioritizing, you should always plan ahead at least a day in advance. We don't want to arrive at work without a clear list of things to do. We follow Golden Rule #1 from The 4-Hour Workweek.

Golden Rule #1: Each delegated task must be both time-consuming and well-defined. If you're running around like a chicken with its head cut off and assign your VA to do that for you, it doesn't improve the order of the universe.
